Chapter six-Dry Camping in the Desert-Part Five

When we went to Stanton Mine (both times!),  Larry noticed that if you continued down the highway, instead of turning towards the mine, the highway looked interesting.  We asked Marie about it and she said it was a nice twisty drive to Yarnell, but we should continue on to Prescott, for a real adventure.  The drive  takes you up a one way highway full of switch backs and wonderful views of the valley below, into Yarnell, a lovely little town.  Then through the flat of ranch land, and up the highway, into the Prescott National Forest, that is like driving through Jasper or Banff in the spring.  Driving from the desert at 500 feet above sea level and cactus in the morning to 6,000 feet above sea level, pine trees and snow two hours later was awesome, you'd think I'd never seen snow before.  After a couple hours of wondering around we began the journey home, as we wanted to get down "the hill" before dark. The trip, one way, takes a couple of hours because of the speed limit of 25 mph, switch backs, and snow, but guess what, that's right, another must see.
