On December 28th we decided the weather was calling to us to take trip into the desert. We packed up our tracker and John & Marie packed up their jeep and we left camp around noon for our adventure. Our first scheduled stop is a very old homestead where Trueman had lived after the previous prospecter had left. Back in it's day it must have been a place to behold! Since Trueman has moved on, the teenagers have moved in, it has become party central and the kids seem intent on destroying the place. WHAT A SHAME!
We load back up and are off, no wait, the jeep is sick. We got to an upward climb and the jeep couldn't do it, so we went around and continued until we got to a wash that the jeep couldn't get out of. The poor jeep is sick again, maybe it just needs time to cool off. Marie and I got out the metal detecter (and a beer) and set out to find the mother load. After about half an hour John says lets go, it took awhile to get up the bump, out of the wash, but we're off again, no wait, the jeep is sick again! This was becoming a pattern, so we decided to shorten up our adventure and head home. After many, many, stops and Larry having to tow the sick jeep up a couple of short inclines, but we managed to get back to camp around 6:30, having travelled about 20kms. Ain't adventures grand!
