The week started off on a sad note for me. I received an email from my cousin (Ariane 3) in Germany on Sunday with the news that her mom (whom we are both named after, my dad's only sister, Auntie Ariane) had passed away that morning. As I sit here writing this, I'm remembering that my dad was diagnosed with his cancer in October and passed away in February, the same as my Auntie Ariane, a sign perhaps?

On  Monday I went to my beading class and tried a new pattern, which will take a few more classes to perfect. Wednesday I decided to check out the paper crafts class, try something new, it was great. We made 2 three dimensional cards/pictures of the front of a house with a window box full of flowers and a bicycle out front. They are so pretty, I hung one up in the motor home and the other I sent to my mom for Valentine's Day. Can't wait for next week.

The drama club here in the park has been practising for the last 2 months for the production of "Let's Do Broadway".  We went to the Thursday night show and it was a blast. After the musical we met our friend's Aunt Dorothy, whom we haven't seen for years. She lives across the road in one of the other RV parks here. Turns out she's getting married (she's 81, he's 88!) here at our park on March 3rd and we told her we'd be there with bells on. On Friday we joined the couple that were beside us when we were staying in Mesa before Christmas for fish and chips and had a wonderful visit.

The wind was howling here Friday night when we left and as we arrived back at the motor home and got the groceries we stopped for on our way home out of the trunk and inside the rain started pouring. It was quite the storm that lasted most of the night.  Saturday was sunny, but the wind was still blowing and cold, so I stayed inside doing laundry and reading. Today was much warmer, the wind not so bad, so we went for a nice long 2 hour walk. We ended the walk at the next door neighbours for a few beers and a last visit. They are heading back home to Alberta early tomorrow morning, back to work Friday. He's looking forward to retirement this time next year and spending the winter here.

I made stir fry for supper and now we'll sit back, stay warm and watch a little TV until bed!

Friday, February 1st, 2013

It was a cold week last week and then rained off and on for 3 days straight. Larry even unhooked the water and had to get the ice out of the hose one morning!

We've been into Quartzsite a couple of times and managed to keep most of our money in our pockets, with the exception of some grill mats that are supposed to make Larry's life easier, and beading supplies for me. I've joined the beading classes again and am really enjoying learning new patterns. I've also gone to a few of the painting classes and have made us a sign to hang off the front bumper, just need to seal the wood with a few more coats of varnish.

Today is laundry day, so I'm sitting in the library catching up on my iPad, it doesn't work well in the motorhome, and Larry's on his laptop, he's  not good at sharing!

This week on Monday we went to Sedona to visit our friends from "the farm" in Saskatchewan. They were here on a time share and invited us to come for a visit, couldn't pass that up! We arrived Monday afternoon and after a visit went for a tour around Sedona and then to a Mexican restaurant for supper. Murray and Penny both came down here with colds and needed to rest, so we filled Murray with the Aniset he likes, Penny with tea and honey and they were into bed early. After coffe and breakfast we took them on a road trip, first stop, Jerome. We stopped at the state park, then a ghost mine and then lunch at the Asylum Restaurant, great food. We drove up to 7000 above sea level on our way through Prescott Valley to Prescott, lots of snow and we were glad we had our socks and runners on! We stopped at the book store, then to Walmart for drugs for the two sick ones and back down to 2500 sea level and warmer weather. We had for peach cobbler at Ken's Restaurant, dessert first for us tonight, then grabbed some soup and buns at the IGA and back to the suite for a late supper and visiting.

Wednesday morning Murray and Penny were up early and after a quick breakfast and hugs goodbye, were off on a tour of the Grand Canyon. We left shortly after them and headed into Mesa to visit friends there, stock up on groceries and were back home by late afternoon. After the groceries were put away we feasted on hotdogs and watched a little TV before calling it a nite. Thursday morning Larry was up before the sun with the dreaded cold. Thanks for sharing Penny and Murray! Just kidding, today is Friday and after suffering yesterday he's feeling much better today. Good old chicken soup and an almost cough free night, do that again tonight and he'll be back to hisself by Saturday.

Well, laundy's done, have a few books from the library, and there's no mail, time to head back to the motorhome, put away the laundry and start marinading the chicken, I think I'll try out the new grill mat-or at least Larry will-he's the BBQ guy, not me! Oh, yea, and it's starting to warm up here, it's already 25 outside. Not so much at home, watched the news last night, -26, Churchill was -49 with the windchill, it's only -45 on Mars!
